I am excited to send this memo to announce the upcoming Dinner & A Show fundraiser and ask for your assistance in promoting the event that we hope will become an annual fundraiser for the Choral Department.
As you know, the Choral Department of BCHS relies heavily on fundraisers and student fees to fund the program. Therefore, I appreciate your help in selling tickets for the upcoming event. I am asking all students to sell a minimum of four tickets as their fair share, however am hopeful that each student/parent will be able to sell many more.
A very nice evening has been planned for all who will attend. Special thanks to Mrs. LaJuanna Bagley for coordinating the event and to the parents who have indicated a willingness to assist with the behind-the-scenes details. DESCRIPTION:
A night of candlelit fine dining provided by the award-winning Chef Richmond Flowers and the Culinary Students of BCHS. Service and Entertainment will be provided by the acclaimed choirs of BCHS including: Chamber Choir, Women’s Choir, Maximum Velocity Junior Varsity Show Choir, & Centrifugal Motion Varsity Show Choir. This fundraising event is sponsored by the Choral Department in an effort to raise public awareness of the talented students of BCHS and to gain financial support for future musical endeavors. South Central Classic Show Choir Competition
Homewood, AL—February 15-16, 2008
A detailed memo/itinerary was sent home with students on January 21, 2008 about the upcoming competition(s) in Homewood, AL and Belmont University. This information is also available on-line at www.bradleyhigh.com/Choir. Click on the competitions link to read the memo, see the hotel rooming list, etc.
This is also to remind students that we are now in our last few days of final preparation before our first competition. It is very important that all students are present with needed items at the final rehearsals. Parents please assist students with reviewing the rehearsal schedule and making the necessary arrangements.
REMAINING EXTRA REHEARSALS PRIOR TO HOMEWOOD:
Saturday, February 9th
5:30-8:30PM Lake Forest Middle School Auditorium
Focus of Rehearsal: Put the following songs together with band and begin
running entire show with instrumentalists, pit singers, stage crew, etc.
Stray Cat Strut/Hit The Road Jack,
Raise The Roof/Rock This Town and Bow
Tuesday, February 12th
3:30-5:00PM BCHS Choir Room
Focus: Review Vocals-Additional Cleaning
6:00-9:00 PM Lake Forest Middle School Auditorium
Focus: Final Stage/Dress Rehearsal with band--run entire show with
costume changes, etc. All students need all parts of their costumes.
8:15 PM Preview for Parents/Distribution of Info
Thanks for your assistance in reviewing the detailed itinerary for the Homewood competition and remit payment for the Homewood/Belmont trip by Wednesday, February 13th along with the signed permission form. A detailed itinerary will be sent home for the Belmont University Competition as soon as the information is received from the university.

This memo is to update you on the upcoming competition trips to Homewood, AL. and Nashville, TN and to inform you of the fees needed to attend.
Below is the tentative itinerary for the trip to Homewood, AL. An itinerary will be sent home for the trip to Nashville at a later date.
HOMEWOOD, AL TRIP ITINERARY
Friday, February 15th: (Students do not have school on Friday or Monday.)
9:30 AM Meet in choir room with all luggage, show choir attire, etc.
Final Rehearsal for Show Choir, Band. Stage Hands, Pit Singers
11:15 AM Load the bus/equipment truck
11:30 AM Depart BCHS—fast food lunch on 25th Street. ($ needed for lunch)
12:15 PM Depart for Homewood, AL (185 miles, approx, 3 hrs driving time)
2:15 PM (C.T.)Arrive at Hyatt Place Hoover Hotel 2980 John Hawkins Parkway
Birmingham, AL (205-988-8444)
3:30 PM Depart for Dinner
5:00 PM Arrive at Homewood High School to watch the Middle School Show
Choir competition Admission =$5.00 to be paid in cash by each student at door
Please note: Food will be available at the high school and snack foods may be purchased in hotel lobby. Each room has a microwave and refrigerator.
10:00 PM Depart for Motel (Students will not be permitted to swim or order pizza!)
11:00 PM Room check—everyone should be in there assigned rooms.

Saturday, February 16th: (Ticket prices for non-performers/staff=$10.00)
5:00-6:00 AM Continental Breakfast/Showers, etc.
6:15 AM Check out of motel rooms and load bus
6:30 AM Depart for Homewood High School
7:00 AM Unload props/equipment at Homewood High School
(Ms. Long//Mr. Ware—Band/Stage Hands)
7:15 AM Ms. Lawson to register/check in—unload bus/travel to homeroom
8:40 AM Travel to warm-up room
8:45 AM Warm-up Room
9:10 AM Compete (25 minutes to set-up/perform/tear-down—deductions if longer!)
9:35 AM Return to Homeroom to change into casual clothes
(Ms. Lawson will select representatives that will remain in costume for the awards ceremony)
10:00 AM Watch competition in the auditorium
12:15 PM Awards Ceremony for Class A
12:45 PM Remove all belongings from Homeroom and report to bus
1:00 PM Travel to Galleria Mall for Lunch
3:30 PM Depart Galleria Mall
3:50 PM Return to Homewood High School to watch Class AA competition
(Make sure your hand stamp is still visible)
7:45 PM Load bus after South Jones Company Performs and Finalists are named
8:00 PM Depart for Cleveland/Stop for fast food on the way home.
Sunday, February 17th:
12:00 AM Approximate arrival time at BCHS.
Students will make phone calls to parents along the way to give more
accurate arrival time. PLEASE be on time or early to pick-up your child as we will all be very tired! (Especially the director who doesn’t get to go
home until everyone has been picked up! J)
All students need to turn in $85.00 by Wednesday, February 13th to cover their portion of the motel, bus (for Homewood, AL and Nashville, TN), and competition. This fee only includes breakfast at the motel. Students will need to bring cash for all other meals while on the trip. Money is needed for two lunches/two dinners/and snacks, plus $5.00 admission to watch the middle school competition.
Chaperones Needed:
If you are interested in serving as a chaperone/stagehand/lending moral support/fan on this trip, please contact Ms. Lawson ASAP. At present, I only have 14 rooms reserved and will need all of these for the students/directors/bus driver. Because we will be traveling by school bus, it will be necessary for parents to drive.
