This page will answer some of
BCHS's students questions about recycling. If You think recycling is just about
getting a few bottles and some cans in a bag and taking them to the recycling
center, it's not. Even if that is what it really is, if we all help pick up
trash here and there, and keep our earth clean, when we do recycle cans and
plastic it will do an ever greater good that if we left pollution alone and
trash on the soil of out green earth. So here are some common questions.
Questions and Answers
Q: Can I store plastic, and aluminum cans in the same container to recycle?
A: Not unless you want to separate them when you get to the facility to recycle
them. You can't melt down plastic with a metal can in it to make a milk jug, so
they have to be in separate storage.
Q: If there is plenty of landfill space, then why take time to recycle?
A: It saves money, for you as well as the community we live in. It is better
that just throwing it on the ground and cramming it into mother nature also.
Q: What should I not throw out in my trash?
A: Many common household items, such as paint, cleaners, oils, batteries, and
pesticides. Theses are also called household hazardous waste (HHW).
Q: How can i start a recycling center in my community or on my block?
A: Well it is not as hard as it seems. First, you should get in touch with the
proper authorities in your area. Most communities have recycling coordinators,
government officials who have information on local recycling resources, or
contact your local Department of Sanitation. They will provide you with all the
things you need, and gladly help you.
Q: What time does the recycling truck start?
A: Most start around 6:30 am.
Q: Does it hurt if my recyclables get wet, or rained on?
A: No never.
